The Brooklyn Nets and owner Mikhail Prokorov came into the season with high hopes as they began their first season at the Barclays Center. With the Nets 11-4 by the end of November and Avery Johnson named Coach of the Month all seemed to be going to plan. However the month of December has not been kind to Brooklyn's new team, as the Nets have lost 10 of 13 games since winning five in a row to end November, including two games to the inter-borough rival New York Knicks, one to the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat, and back to back blowouts to the Boston Celtics on Christmas and the Milwaukee Bucks, leading to the Nets front office relieving Head Coach Avery Johnson of his duties after it all culminated in a 14-14 record. General Manager Billy King announced the decision Thursday, and named assistant coach PJ Carlisimo interim Head Coach.
The Nets' offense has not been the high- powered unit it was billed to be after its impressive November run. Deron Williams, expected to become the superstar to lead the team, has struggled to score and last week had negative comments towards the Nets offensive system not being what he was accustomed to when he was in Utah.Avery Johnson, Basketball, Billy King, Brooklyn, Brooklyn Nets, Deron Williams, Mikhail Prokorov, NBA
